Work hours are from 08:00am till 05:00pm, there are events & functions which can occur and may require longer work hours. One day off per week for you to enjoy some leisure time and do sightseeing.
Transport from and to the airport will be provided, along with transport during sightseeing planned by us.
One of the perks of Working Holidays at Akwaaba is our food and accommodation.
Meals are prepared by our chef. 3 Cooked meals per day. You can look forward to South African style bbq’s. Indian Cuisine, Deserts and much more. All meals include juice or a soft drink. Feel free to order or make yourself coffee or tea at any time.
You are also welcome to do take away meals if you feel like something different. The town of Rustenburg is not that far away; Pizza, Mc Donalds, Kentucky, Cape Town Fish Market and much more.
You will be staying in style in a 4 star Lodge. You are required to keep your room and veranda area tidy but our cleaning staff will attend to your room 2 times a week.
Laundry facilities and assistance on site
A Restaurant and other dining facilities are on site, together with a pool, braai (barbeque) facilities.
Internet and Wi-Fi facilities are provided
We have a cell phone available, should you wish to get international roaming or a South African sim card for your phone. Signal however, it sometimes poor and it is best to rely on the internet rather than a cell phone signal. There is also a landline to make or receive calls (at your own expense)
One day off per week. Stay in and relax or take up one of our tours. Some nights we social and do team building around the boma fire. Hope to hear some of your stories there. We love life, laughter and people
The flight tickets are not included in the price. You can book flights through a travel agency of your choice, please just be sure to arrive in Johannesburg/Lenasia
A Visa is needed if you intend to stay in South Africa for more than 90 days. Please note that it normally takes about two months to apply and obtain the visa.
Please make sure that your insurance covers illness, injury and theft whilst you are volunteering. Insurance which will cover you for all kinds of emergencies are available at most travel agencies? Or purchase this insurance as a complement to your home insurance or just for the period that you are volunteering. Be sure to enquire about insurance options when enquiring about flight tickets,
We are in a malaria free area, but please remember if you are on any kind of medication or allergies or any conditions to include the information with your application.
Duration: From 2 weeks to 12 weeks or longer, subject to visa requirements
Start Dates: All year round – you choose your start and finish dates.
Requirements: No qualifications needed, a love of animals and their conservation. Minimum age 18.
